LINKS CORNER REVIEW |
Reviewed by James Wood
First Impressions:
This is a park style course with usual variety of trees and no under planting. There is some repetitive planting in the form of 'row planting' here. The primary rough is deep grass with a first cut of normal rough. The bunkers have been inserted and then the verts have been pulled down in elevation causing quite a few problems. Most of the water has a ring of sand around it. There are also quite a few bad edges and pulled verts. The course is fairly flat except for a few of the greens that have quite a bit of undulation. There are many doglegs causing you to lay-up on quite a few holes.
Strategy:
None of the par 5's are reachable in two. They measure 613, 648, 563, and 593 from the back tees. The dogleg par 4's are for the most part force you to lay-up short and then hit a long iron into the green.
Favorite Hole:
The tee shot on hole #1 is probably the nicest of the bunch even though it's also a good example of the row planting that was used.
Overall:
No risk/reward shots, forced lay-ups, a few greens that are unfair, and repetitive planting make for a golf course that could use quite a bit of improvement. I can't recommend this one.
