First Impressions:
This is a fictional course with a park style setting. A nice panorama was used here with mountains in the background and a lake in the foreground. Heavily forested although no under planting was seen in the forest. The rough is bright green with a much paler fairway texture. Several objects including a leader board and some animals are present. Many of the greens have small peninsulas and this is where the pins are placed. Some of these are less than 20 feet across. It makes it very difficult to shoot at the pins and impossible on some shots. The bunkers have been extruded and a texture was applied to the extrusion but it has not been mapped. The edges on the bunkers have not been turned which leaves a sharp lip. The water is flat but no other work was done to it. On a few holes you will see some unrealistic elevations. This is evident on the 4th hole where the sides of the fairway are almost vertical with grass growing on the face of the wall. Many of the shots off of the tee box do not give a view of the fairway or green.
Strategy:
Forget about shooting at the pins unless you want to hazard the sand bunkers that are plentiful and guard all of the greens. Some tee shots require carries of over 270 yards to reach the fairway. The par 5 8th hole is reachable after you hit a forced fade off the tee box. Stay to the left to avoid some trees on the right hand side of the fairway at the landing point.
Favorite Hole:
The 14th hole looked and felt like a good golf hole.
Overall:
The textures don't go well together here. The greens are unrealistically shaped. The views off of the tee boxes, particularly on some par 3's, are not good. The forced carries on many holes sometimes combined with a forced fade are repetitive. A couple of the holes looked good and if the entire course were constructed in the same fashion it would have been much better. There were no real risk/reward shots on the course because except for one, the par 5's are unreachable. Some people will find this course very challenging and will enjoy it for that reason. This is definitely target golf.
I can't recommend downloading this course unless you like the kind of challenge it presents.
